Many resorts have in-house reefs just a short walk from the beach, making it incredibly easy to explore the underwater world. Scuba diving is another must-do activity for me here—the crystal-clear waters offer amazing visibility, so I can truly appreciate the vibrant marine life and colorful coral reefs.

This period marks the peak tourist season, when the islands come alive with visitors enjoying the idyllic weather. In contrast, June and July bring some rainfall, but the showers are typically brief. Travelers on a budget may find these months appealing, as there are fewer crowds and often more affordable rates for accommodations and activities.

2. Bora Bora, French Polynesia

Book in advance as there are not many rooms. Bring cash to change at the airport for local currency – French Pacific Franc, and book a room that has breakfast included. Food can be very expensive.

The island is divided into four distinct regions, each with its own unique character and endless things to discover.

Points of Interest : The region of Chania is home to some of Crete’s most iconic points of interest. This includes the beautiful city of Chania, the pink-sand Elafonissi Beach, and the Balos Lagoon. Continuing to the East, the less-touristy region of Rethymnon prides itself on beach towns like Agia Galini and Bali, traditional villages like Spili and Prasses, and historical sights like the Preveli monastery and the Ideon Cave (where Zeus grew up).

Next, the region of Heraklion is home not only to Crete’s capital but also to the ancient Knossos Palace, the quirky hippie town of Matala, and popular beach towns like Malia and Agia Pelagia. Last but not least, the region of Lasithi is filled with interesting places to visit including the picturesque village of Kritsa, Vai Beach (and dozens of other paradise beaches), and the fascinating Spinalonga Island, which was an active leper colony up until the 1960s.

Bali is perhaps the most famous island in Indonesia, nestled in the Java Sea. There’s a good reason for its worldwide popularity—it never fails to leave me in awe with its pristine beaches, dramatic clifftops, and lush, terraced rice fields.

Bali’s culture is truly unique, and the local people’s deep spirituality is felt everywhere. The island is home to many impressive temples, each dedicated to different natural powers.

I love visiting Uluwatu Temple, perched dramatically on the edge of a cliff, especially to catch the traditional Balinese dance performed at sunset. Ulun Danu Temple, floating serenely on a lake against a stunning mountain backdrop, is another highlight that always takes my breath away.

Points of Interest : Bali has some best world-class surfing spots where you can watch professional surfers in action. It’s also a great place to take a surfing class with a good selection of surfing schools. These schools offer courses to all levels of proficiency.

In your Bali itinerary  don’t forget to include Ubud, which is a cultural centre of Bali. Visit Monkey Sanctuary, take a stroll amongst scenic rice fields at Tegalalang and discover some gorgeous waterfalls hidden deep in the jungle! Ubud is also an excellent base for an unforgettable sunrise hike of the nearby Mount Bromo, which is an active volcano. And don’t forget to take some time to chill, Ubud has some best spas and yoga centers.

9. Menorca, Spain

Menorca, one of the Balearic Islands, is undoubtedly a contender for the title of the most beautiful island in the Mediterranean. The island’s interior is a patchwork of rolling, fertile farmland, renowned for producing the delicious Menorca cheese. Along its rocky coastline, I love discovering secluded coves and pristine beaches, many of which are accessible via the scenic Cami de Cavalls coastal path.

While tourism plays a vital role in Menorca, the island maintains a relaxed, upmarket atmosphere and takes great pride in its natural beauty and unspoiled charm. Every visit feels like a true escape, surrounded by landscapes that remain largely untouched.

Points Of Interest : The south coast of Menorca has some of the best beaches, with clear turquoise water and sheltered bays. While the north coast is wilder, with wetlands and a protected natural reserve. Add to this, the two main towns at either end of the island that are packed with historic buildings. This would make a great day out with busy restaurants and bags of character.

The island capital of Mahon has a harbor full of swanky yachts, charming old quarter and lots of maritime history dating back to the 18th century when Menorca was a British naval base.

The second city and former island capital of Ciutadella is impossibly pretty, with winding streets and honey stone buildings dating back to medieval times, as well as many seafood restaurants to linger with a view of the marina.

10. Zanzibar, Tanzania

Zanzibar is a small paradise island in the Indian Ocean, offering so much to anyone who visits. While the main draw for most travelers is the island’s stunning sandy beaches and the mesmerizing water, painted in countless shades of blue, Zanzibar is far more than just a beach destination.

Diving and snorkeling are experiences that every hotel on the island offers. The main two areas where tourists choose to go for sun tanning and water activities are the North, around Nungwi and in the East, around Paje. The later is famous for windsurfing. So if you want to learn how to tackle the waves with a kite, this is a great base. Some of the great places to base yourself in Zanzibar are Kendwa, Kizimkazi, Jambiani or Pongwe. The restaurants in Jambiani are worth mentioning for their seafood feasts.

The cultural hub of Zanzibar is Stone Town, one of Africa’s oldest ancient towns. Its narrow streets with houses featuring Arabic architecture, beautiful doors, mosques, and bazaars make Stone Town a base for at least two days, for many tourists. This is one of the only places on the island where you can try to Zanzibar pizza, a grilled pastry filled with different ingredients and topped with a dollop of Happy Cow cheese. The night market in Stone Town is a must. Here you can try many of the delicacies of the Zanzibari cuisine.

Just off Stone Town you will find Prison Island where you can have a close encounter with the giant tortoises.

Best Time To Visit Zanzibar : Zanzibar is an year round destination. The most popular fall between June and October during the cool and pleasant spring season. December till February are the summer months that are enjoyable to on this tropical island.
