As someone who’s visited Mallorca with my family, I can say it’s the perfect destination for a memorable holiday together. Beyond the stunning beaches, delicious food, and beautiful weather, I found the island incredibly convenient for families, especially when traveling with kids.
There are plenty of accommodation options, ranging from cozy private villas to full-service hotel resorts, so finding the right fit for our family was easy.
Getting around was a breeze thanks to well-organized public transport. However, we chose to use ROIG rent a car in Mallorca for extra flexibility, which made exploring the island much more convenient.

1. Visit the Palma Aquarium
Palma Aquarium was one of the highlights of our family trip to Mallorca. It’s the perfect blend of fun and education for everyone, young and old. Stepping inside, we were immediately captivated by the vibrant displays showcasing the marine life of the Mediterranean Sea as well as exotic species from oceans around the world.
One of the things we loved most was how interactive the experience was. My kids were especially thrilled by the touch pool, where they got to gently interact with rays, an experience they’re still talking about! Throughout the aquarium, we learned so much about marine conservation and the importance of protecting these incredible creatures and their habitats.
Whether you’re traveling with children or just want to discover something new together as a family, Palma Aquarium is a fantastic place to explore, learn, and make lasting memories.
2. Explore the Caves of Drach
Visiting the Caves of Drach in Porto Cristo was one of the most unforgettable parts of our Mallorca adventure. As soon as we entered the caves, we were awestruck by the dramatic stalactites and stalagmites that seemed to transform every chamber into a work of art. The kids were fascinated by the unusual shapes and the sense of exploring a hidden world beneath the surface.
The highlight for all of us was the serene underground lake, Lake Martel. Watching a classical music concert performed live from a boat gliding across the water was pure magic. The acoustics and the gentle reflections on the lake created an atmosphere that felt almost otherworldly.
If you’re looking for an adventurous family outing surrounded by natural beauty, the Caves of Drach are a must-see. We left with a sense of wonder and plenty of stories to share!
3. Visit the Mondragó Natural Park
During our family trip to Mallorca, we decided to spend a day at Mondragó Natural Park, and it quickly became one of our favorite memories. The park is a true haven for nature lovers, with lush landscapes, winding trails, and a wonderful variety of plants and animals.
We started our visit with a gentle hike along one of the well-marked trails. The walk was easy enough for the kids and offered plenty of opportunities to appreciate the beauty of the surroundings. We packed a picnic and enjoyed it in one of the designated spots, taking in the peaceful atmosphere and listening to birdsong. The kids were especially excited to spot a few rare birds. Binoculars definitely came in handy!
After our walk, we headed to one of the park’s golden sand beaches, where the turquoise waters were simply irresistible. Spending time swimming and relaxing by the sea was the perfect way to round off our day in nature. If you’re looking for a relaxing outdoor adventure that the whole family can enjoy, I highly recommend adding Mondragó Natural Park to your Mallorca itinerary.
4. Take a train journey to Sóller
One of the most memorable experiences from our family trip to Mallorca was taking the vintage train from Palma to Sóller. The moment we boarded the train, we felt like we were stepping back in time. The wooden carriages and old-fashioned charm set the tone for an adventure that everyone, young and old, could enjoy.
As the train wound its way through the mountains and olive groves, we were treated to some of the most breathtaking landscapes I’ve ever seen. The kids pressed their faces to the windows, pointing out the dramatic scenery as we chugged along.
Arriving in Sóller, we found ourselves in a town brimming with charm. We strolled through the vibrant market, sampled fresh local produce, and sat down to a delicious Mallorcan meal at a cozy café. It was the perfect blend of relaxation and exploration.
This vintage train journey was truly unforgettable for our entire family, combining the joy of travel with the delight of discovering a new place together.
5. Explore the Alcudia Old Town
Exploring Alcudia was one of the highlights of our family trip to Mallorca, especially for those of us who love diving into local culture and history.
Wandering through Alcudia’s old town felt like stepping back in time. The preserved Medieval walls, narrow cobblestone streets, and impressive Roman ruins created a magical atmosphere that fascinated both the kids and adults.
We spent hours just strolling around, popping into quaint cafés for a treat, and browsing unique boutiques offering handcrafted local goods. It was the perfect opportunity to pick up a few special souvenirs and experience the authentic side of Mallorca.
Looking back, I realize Mallorca truly offers the perfect blend of natural beauty, adventure, and rich cultural experiences. While these five activities were our favorites, the island is bursting with even more things to see and do. The only real challenge is deciding what to try next!
